Park & Ride

Free parking for Südtirol Pass holders commuting by train

Car parking at train stations should primarily serve train passengers – commuters in particular – and be available at the most favourable conditions possible.

Parking at the train stations in Bressanone/Brixen, Brunico/Bruneck or Marlengo/Marling is subject to a charge, but there’s a special deal for all Südtirol Pass holders: Passengers leaving their vehicle at either of those stations and taking a regional train from there can park for only a small fee – and if they return to that station on a regional train the same day, parking is completely free of charge.

For extra convenience, Südtirol Pass users simply need to hold their pass in front of the reader to pay and to open the barrier when entering and leaving the station.

Good to know

Night-time parking: This system also works for commuters who use the car park exclusively during the night. The only prerequisite for free parking in this case is that both ticket check-ins (i.e. for the outward and the return journey) take place within 24 hours after entering the car park.

Who is eligible?

If you’d like to use your Südtirol Pass or Euregio Family Pass to pay for parking at Bressanone/Brixen, Brunico/Bruneck or Marlengo/Marling train station, the Park & Ride package in your online user account must be activated. The only prerequisite is that you have a post-paid contract using SEPA Direct Debit. Südtirol Pass holders with a pre-paid contract can change their payment preferences any time in their user account with just a few clicks.

Südtirol Pass abo+ and Südtirol Pass 65+ holders, too, can add the Park & Ride option – provided that they have a post-paid contract and activated the option to pay for additional services.

Passengers travelling on a Südtirol Pass free can apply for a parking permit at their local police station.

How to park your car
  1. When entering: At the entrance barrier, hold your Südtirol Pass in front of the reader to open the barrier.
  2. When leaving the car park: At the exit barrier, hold your Südtirol Pass in front of the reader to open the barrier.

Please remember: Do NOT take a car-park ticket!

Südtirol Pass: How parking fees are charged

The idea is simple: Südtirol Pass holders will pay a maximum of EUR 6 per day to park at Bressanone/Brixen or Brunico/Bruneck station. If you use your Südtirol Pass to check in on a regional train that day, parking only costs 3 EUR. And if you use your Südtirol Pass to also check in on a same-day return using a regional train to that same train station, parking costs nothing at all.

In any case, Südtirol Pass holders are guaranteed to always pay the lowest possible rate; for shorter parking times, that can also mean the standard hourly rate.

Please note: This reduced parking fee only applies to Südtirol Pass holders travelling on regional trains on both their outward and their return journey. The parking fee will not be reduced if you check in on a bus or if your return journey is to a different destination.
