18 March: Venosta/Vinschgau valley railway resumes weekend service

Exceptions in the evening hours

From Monday 18 March 2024, the Venosta/Vinschgau valley railway will operate on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. The partial closure of the Venosta/Vinschgau valley railway in the evening hours due to electrification work remains in force.

Mobility at provincial level

"TheVenosta/Vinschgau valley railway is not only a central element for mobility in the western half of the province. Above all, it is part of a province-wide mobility concept that can only work if the Venosta/Vinschgau valley railway is also electrified," says Daniel Alfreider, Provincial Councillor for Mobility. "Our aim is to offer an attractive half-hourly service in Venosta/Vinschgau valley, as in the rest of the province. In addition, trains will run directly from Malles/Mals to Innsbruck and Lienz," adds the councillor.

Partial closure in the evening

The last three evening trains to Malles/Mals and the last two evening trains to Merano/Meran will be cancelled. There will be a replacement bus service every hour. The replacement buses will only stop at the stops indicated in the timetable. In Lagundo/Algund the replacement buses will stop at the “Stazione Lagundo/Bahnhof Algund” stop in via Weingartner/Weingartnerstraße. Marlengo/Marling station can be reached by bus number 212.

Tickets and passes must be purchased and validated before boarding the replacement bus.
