1.5 million hits recorded on our website and an app among the top ten most used applications made in South Tyrol: That’s the balance racked up by our mobility portal in its very first year.
On 26 August 2020, more than 13,000 users tuned in to get a first glimpse of the brand-new südtirolmobil website. Since its launch, the site has attracted 670,000 new users – a steep increase from the previous version –, with currently more than 7,000 views and 30,000 timetable searches per day. Online timetable enquiries make up almost two-thirds of all views, followed by timetable searches into individual bus and rail lines, which are continuously updated with the latest information.
One platform for all Südtirol Pass online services
südtirolmobil is not just your number one address for timetables and all kinds of information on public transport in South Tyrol: With the Südtirol Pass portal, the website also offers a customised platform containing the full range of online services available for Südtirol Pass and other subscription-based public transport tickets.
Thanks to some 100,000 Südtirol Pass and Euregio Family Pass tickets currently in use, the portal records between 30,000 and 40,000 logins each month, with access peaking at a record 58,000 logins in September 2020. And it is also the place where some 73,000 abo+ subscription tickets for pupils and students of all ages and all the way up to university are renewed or newly applied for every year at the start of school.
An intensive first year
Behind the scenes, we’ve kept busy during this first year, striving to continuously improve, boost and expand both the website and the app in line with suggestions submitted by our users. How? For instance by adding a series of new features along the way: There have been ten releases geared towards optimising the app alone, and new developments include a real-time display of train departures, SASA urban-bus service departures and passenger density on regional trains, a timetable widget for external websites, a specialised info page for holidaymakers and separate lists for bus services that only circulate on school days. Plus, by popular demand, the option to save and print the results of all online timetable searches to PDF and to create a personalised set of timetables featuring a customised selection of bus and train services.
A highlight among the long list of novelties: push notifications for individual bus and train lines that users can subscribe to in their profile – i.e. tailored to their exact transportation needs. That way, passengers can automatically access all the latest news on public mobility and on their selected services or stops, keeping up to speed while they’re on the move.
More innovations to come
In the near future, there will be an increased focus on optimising usability through the new digital design and on complementing the map views with added information on mobility, such as charging stations for electric vehicles or car sharing locations, to name but a few. Another major milestone: mobile ticketing, which will soon make it possible to purchase tickets online.
Keep sending us your feedback, and wherever your journey takes you, we will be happy to stay by your side. Have a safe and pleasant trip!
